Hey everyone! So here is my second post on my photography website that I hope you'll all enjoy.

For my RISD class, I have an assignment where I have to paint two cassell star paintings, which is me essentially making two Star of Davids and painting them specific colors. As you can tell, I don't have a firm grasp on what the homework is and I haven't even started but by the end of this weekend it'll be done!

I also did the courtesy and decided that everyone should see my wonderful notes for my oil painting class so here you go. They are full of spelling errors and a little oil paint but that's the charm of being an artist.

Recently, I've decided I'm going to apply to some art competitions and see how far I can get. I really don't enjoy being judged (who does like come on) but I really want to win and actually see if I'm good at what I enjoy. I want to make a career out of this (photography, paintings, art in general, etc) and make it big in a sense. I want to be in the action and just have a thrilling time with it all. SO, winning art competitions and getting my name out there seems to be the only way.

The first competition is called the College of Photography of the Year (CPOY) and the deadline for that is October 2nd. I pretty much have to submit a photograph that has been created between September 1st 2015 to August 31st 2016. There are multiple categories, which I have to read more into, to enter. There are a bunch of other rules but essentially, if you win, you get all the fame in the world. I've read a little bit about past CPOY winners and pretty much they've all gone on to do great things with photography and ended up interning at National Geographic and other wonders.

The second competition that I'll be entering in is the URI Holiday Art Competition. All I have to do is submit an original piece of art for their annual holiday card and hope I win. The winner receives $500 "and once published, the holiday card will be sent to thousands of leaders in various professions worldwide." So yes, it is kind of a big deal. You can submit multiple pieces of art so I was thinking of painting the campus covered with snow or maybe taking a picture somewhere or drawing a cool design with the overall theme being snow and happy holidays. This is due October 12th so I have a little bit more time than the CPOY competition but it's still nerve racking.

And lastly is the Picture of the Year International (POYi), which is another photography competition. This one doesn't even open until November 11th so I've got time but is ultimately due on January 12th. I know very little about it except that past winners have stunning photos so I'm a little jealous. I'll still try to produce something amazing but life is all about taking little steps (right?? someone tell me that's actually false).
